Susan Skinner: I have always enjoyed writing and only took my poetry seriously after an Arvon course that was led by U A Fanthorpe. I am married, with three children of my own, now grown-up, and four more children that I took on when my sister died who have also somehow achieved adulthood. I love the countryside and our dog who is a saluki and still running fast at fifteen. I love reading as well as well as writing and am fond of a number of poets down the centuries. I also love stories and feel that authors are often my friends.
