After spending her early childhood in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Simone lived in Berkshire, Brighton, London, Bath and Bristol before returning to live in Wales in December 2006. She graduated from Sussex University in English (with American Studies), qualified both as a teacher of Speech and Drama and EFL, taught at secondary and FE levels, as well as in private and language schools before spending nearly fifteen years in marketing and PR. Her roles then involved much travel, as well as writing articles and press releases for industry publications.

Since December 2004, Simone has rediscovered creative writing, especially poetry: she now divides her time between writing & reading her work, promoting other literary events & co-running a small centre for workshops, holidays, courses & events in Carmarthenshire, Ceridwen.

Simone hosts a Cardigan open mic poetry night – Word Up – and is active in local writing groups. She’s published in anthologies and periodicals, including Envoi, iota, Roundyhouse, The Interpreter’s House and The Cannon’s Mouth. She’s a member of the Poetry Society, NAWE and Second Light, and is published and recorded online (including on www.poetcasting.co.uk). She’s read on Radio Wales, won the Denbigh Festival Slam in 2008 and was one of two representing Wales in the 2009 Radio 4 performance poetry competition. The next project she wants to achieve is a CD of her more ‘performancey’ poems. Her pamphlet – Not exactly getting anywhere but… came out in 2008, followed by a slim volume, Juice of the Lemon in 2009. Her first full-length collection is Cardiff Bay Lunch published by Lapwing in June 2010.
