Mira Mehta is known internationally as a teacher of Yoga. The author of several best-selling books translated into many languages, she runs The Yogic Path Yoga school in London.

Mira has always been deeply interested in language and poetry. A linguistics graduate, she has also studied poetics and verse speaking. Her poetic endeavours are wide ranging and are showcased on her website, www.poetrypoetics.com.

She has a poetry collection, Cascade of Stars. These poems explore the natural world and human nature, ranging over a variety of subjects. Unusually, they combine a classical structure with modern style.

In addition to her own writing, she has published translations from Sanskrit philosophical verse which are used as readings by Yoga students all over the world (Readings for Serenity).

She gives readings of her poetry in this country and abroad and uses poetry to illustrate talks on philosophy.

Mira also gives talks on poetics and runs a study group, Lovers of Poetry, which uses poetics as the stimulus for exploring poetry and includes topics such as Poetry and Thought, Inspiration, Definition and Grading of Poetry, Words and Meanings, Emotion and Dramatic Mood, Hidden Meaning, Attributes and Defects of Poetry and Ornamentation of Language.

Mira’s poetry is evolving as she continues to explore rhythm, rhyme and the complexities of language.
