Jenna Plewes’s career in psychotherapy and her love of the natural world give her poetry its distinctive voice. She is at her happiest in quiet places, the sea, mountains and moorlands feed her soul.

A wartime baby, she was in the Hebrides till she was 3, then lived by the sea in Sussex for 9 years until the family moved to the edge of Dartmoor and she went to Tavistock Grammar School.

She went to Durham to study English but changed course and did Social Studies at Edinburgh, University and then became a Medical Social Worker. She and her husband and 2 young children emigrated to Canada, returning to England after 5 years. She retrained as a psychotherapist and worked as a counsellor in General Practice for 15 years, and as a potter. She belongs to the Quiet Garden Trust and opens her 2 acre garden from April to October. She feels she has come full circle, returning to the writing she side-lined while she was working and bringing up her family.

Her poems have been published in magazines in the UK and Canada and in several anthologies. Her first full collection Salt was published by IDP in 2013. Gifts, a collection of contemplative poetry published in 2014 is available on Amazon. Pull of the Earth is her second full collection with IDP.
