Jean Watkins is a retired teacher originally from West Yorkshire. She qualified at Roehampton; later gained the diploma of the Dyslexia Institute and taught students with specific learning difficulties. Jean is married with three adult children and two grandchildren. In 2001 she gained a BA in English at Reading University and in 2002 joined Susan Utting's poetry course there. She became addicted to writing poetry and is now beyond cure. Jean is a member of the Second Light Network. She has been a prizewinner and her poems have been commended in several poetry competitions. They have appeared in anthologies such as Blinking Eye 2005, 2006; Poetry Ealing (Pitshanger) 15, 16; Revelations (Norwich) 2007. Mslexia published one of Jean's poems in Issue 35, October 2007.
