David Ashbee was raised in Gloucestershire where he has lived for the last 40 years. As a member of The Cherington Poets, he has helped run many poetry writing workshops in Autumn residencies on the coast all round the country.

He was one of Enitharmon’s new poets in 1989 with Perpetual Waterfalls of which the late U.A. Fanthorpe said, “This is genuine poetry, in love with the beautiful surface of things, bur searching all the time for what lies below the surface.” This was followed in 2007 by Loss Adjuster from bluechrome, whose publisher Anthony Delgrado said “he can do just about everything and make it look easy.”

His third full collection, with nearly 100 poems, Poems from the Mind Shop, came through Dempsey & Windle in 2020. The poems included here are from that book. Order from the publisher Dempsey & Windle.

A keen photographer, both aspects of his work can be seen on his blog: luckycherryphotosandpoems.
