Stephen Elves is a journalist who has worked on The Independent and The Times. He was born in Hackney, east London in October 1954 and now lives in Faversham, Kent. As a mature student he read Philosophy and English at the University of Kent at Canterbury, followed by postgraduate study at Kent and the University of Oxford. He taught philosophy for a while then went into journalism.
 
His poems and reviews have been published in Acumen, Orbis, Envoi and Connections magazines, and he has read at festivals in Canterbury, Whitstable and Deal as part of the Connections magazine ‘New Talent’ line-up.
