Sharon Black is from Glasgow and lives in a remote valley of the Cévennes mountains of France. Her poetry is published in journals that include The North, Magma, The Rialto, The Moth, The London Magazine, Strix, Under the Radar, Mslexia, Stand, Gutter, Agenda and Poetry News, and she has won many awards for her work, including 1st prizes in the Guernsey International Poetry Competition 2019, The London Magazine Poetry Prize 2018, Manchester Cathedral Poetry Competition 2017, Poets and Players Poetry Competition 2017 and Poetry on the Lake International Competition 2016 (Silver Wyvern Prize).
 
Her two poetry collections are To Know Bedrock (Pindrop, 2011) and The Art of Egg (Two Ravens, 2015; Pindrop 2019). Her third collection, The Last Woman Born on the Island, is due out in 2020 from TLM Editions. She is currently working on her fourth collection, a series of poems about the Cévennes.
 
Previously a journalist, she now runs a yoga and writing retreat at her home in France, and is editor and publisher of Pindrop Press. She has two children and a large number of comical-looking chickens.
