“Part of the Dark”
Dempsey & Windle
Scott Elder studied at the American University in Paris and the University of Puget Sound, lived as street musician in Paris and London, then worked as a mime artist in France and Portugal before spending twelve years in a Buddhist hermitage. He now lives in Auvergne with his three young children.
Since Winter 2013 his poems have appeared or are forthcoming in the New Welsh Review, Southword Journal, The Moth Magazine, Orbis, Poetry Salzburg, Cyphers, Cake, Nimrod International, The Antigonish Review, The French Literary Review, Crannog Magazine, Big Muddy, Dream Catcher, Acta Victoriana, Quiddity International, The High Window, Sentinel Quarterly, The Journal, Obsessed with Pipework and Morphrog.
He was runner-up in the Troubadour International Poetry Prize 2016, among the winners of the Guernsey International Poetry Prize 2018, highly commended in the Bristol Poetry Prize 2018, the Poetry on the Lake Prize 2018, Buzzwords Poetry Competition 2018, and shortlisted in both the Fish Poetry Prize 2017 and the Plough Prize 2017.
A debut pamphlet, Breaking Away, was published by Poetry Salzburg (2015).
First collection: Part of the Dark by Dempsey & Windle 2017 (UK).
A second pamphlet My Hotel is due to be published in Spring of 2019.
