Philip Hancock was born in Newchapel, Stoke-on-Trent in 1966.
Philip’s poems have appeared in journals including: Magma, Nthposition, Oxford Magazine, OxfordPoets 2010 Carcanet, Poetry London, Smiths Knoll, Smoke, Tears in the Fence, The North, The Poetry Paper, The Rialto, and The Spectator.
He was awarded a writer’s grant by Arts Council West Midlands, and selected for the Jerwood Aldeburgh Seminar 2007. A regular reader of his work for: Aldeburgh Poetry Festival 2007, CB1 Poetry, Groucho Club, Haringey Libraries, Oxfam, Rhythm & Muse, Smiths Knoll, Troubadour: A Summer Chorus, New Voices, Tall Lighthouse, Torriano Meeting House, Shakespeare & Co, Paris.
His debut pamphlet Hearing Ourselves Think was published by Smiths Knoll (2009).
