Old Crow
‘under
a thin moon / in love’s absence’
R
S Thomas: The Way of It
Or
maybe this was
the
way of it
maybe
she saw
the
rainbow radiance
sheening
the wings
or
lusted
for
a sword sharp bill
an
anthracite eye
maybe
she longed
for
a high branched haven
the
clasp of a horned claw
or
— as a woman will
under
whatever moon —
she
glimpsed you
lit
and shining
and
took you for hers
